Why I built PlainVoice.
PlainVoice started as a personal frustration: I was paying every month to talk to my own computer. Here's how that turned into an app you can simply own.
For a long time I paid a monthly subscription just to dictate. Every month, the same bill, for a tool I didn't own, couldn't take offline, and that quietly sent my voice to someone else's server. Eventually it hit me that I could build the thing myself, and build it better.

So I did. PlainVoice runs entirely on your own machine, which means there's no server to rent and no subscription to pass on to you. I made it a one-time purchase, deliberately small, so anyone can own their dictation once, instead of paying a bill that never ends.

Building it myself meant I could make a different trade than the subscription apps. Because everything happens on your device, there's no cloud bill for me to cover, so there's no monthly fee for you. And because your audio never leaves your machine, privacy isn't a plan tier, it's simply how it works.
